Editor’s note: Influential alternative rock outfit Low was in Boston on Friday night, performing to a near capacity crowd at Brighton Music Hall, the crowd was made up largely of original fans who have been coming to see them for years. But also mixed in were some younger fans who undoubtedly have been influenced by their music. Low’s music falls into the category of dream pop – a genre that has experienced a huge resurgence in the last decade behind the success of artists such as Beach House, DIIV, and Cigarettes After Sex among many others.  To understand the influences of some of these bands, their fans have gone back into the genre’s back catalog and discovered artists like Low who helped shape the genre years ago. But Low is far from just a nostalgia act giving folks a look into genre’s roots, they have continued to produce albums at a steady pace, releasing their latest, Double Negative earlier this year. We were on hand to capture scenes from the night’s performance by Low along with opener IN/VIA. Check them out below.
