Black Beach debut new single, “Dumpster Fire”

Boston-based post-punk band Black Beach have a new single called “Dumpster Fire.” Talkhouse premiered the track last week and shared an exclusive interview with the members of the band. Black Beach has announced tour dates supporting their upcoming Tapeworm LP. Black Beach will be playing a hometown album release show at Hong Kong in Harvard Square on 10/16, kicking off the rest of the tour. Tapeworm LP is out October 11th.

Tapeworm is an album about being a human in the 21st century. The songs touch on many different topics such as climate change, capitalism, nostalgia and the echo chamber in which the internet allows us to exist, though the overarching theme of the record is the anxiety of living in our current political and social climate. The album takes a conscious step away from previous releases which relied heavily upon fuzzed-out overdubbed guitars and reverb and delay drenched vocals. Tapeworm instead focuses on capturing a very natural, barebones depiction of the music, building more on dynamics and room sound to create a spacious atmosphere rather than effects units. Tapeworm was recorded over the course of a weekend with Justin Pizzoferrato at Sonelab Studios and mastered by Carl Saff at Saff Mastering.
