Editor’s note: The mighty Jack Antonoff lead his indie-pop band Bleachers into Boston’s Seaport district on Wednesday night behind their third studio album Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night. Antonoff has been busier than most during the pandemic, working on albums with the likes of Lorde, Lana Del Rey, and Taylor Swift all while writing, recording, and producing an album of his own. What came out on stage on Wednesday night was the product of two years of pent-up energy released via a cathartic 90 min set filled with high energy and surprises. Though Bleachers are now 7 shows into a 30+ date tour, it still had that ‘first show back’ energy that all of us have been dreaming of since March 2020.

Opening Wednesday’s evening festivities was Claud, a rising non-binary bedroom pop artist out of the Chicago suburbs. Along with their opening set, Claud also joined Bleachers to sing Lana Del Rey’s verse on “Secret Life.” Claud also released a new album this year, titled Super Monster, the first record released via Saddest Factory a new label imprint from Phoebe Bridgers. Check out photos from both of last night’s sets below.
