PHOTOS: Benee, Dreamer Boy in Boston, MA (06.14.22)
New Zealand pop singer Benee dropped her debut single “Tough Guy” on SoundCloud at just 17 years old after developing a small following on the platform by releasing covers. Since then it’s been a swift rise to international success. In 2019 she scored an opening slot for Lily Allen at her Auckland, NZ concert, but it wasn’t until the pandemic that she really launched into the mainstream. In March of 2020 her single “Supalonely” went viral on TikTok with over 6.9 billion plays. The song would enter the Top 40 on the charts in over 25 countries. Earlier this month she embarked on her first US tour since the return of live music, and on Tuesday night that tour landed in New England at Boston’s House of Blues.
