Editor’s note: “American Band” Grand Funk Railroad are one of the seminal bands in American rock history. Between their founding in 1969 and first split in 1976 the group churned out six platinum selling albums, including We’re An American Band that produced the number one single of the same name, a song that still receives airplay today. The band’s original lineup consisted of Mark Farner (vocals and guitar), Don Brewer (drums and vocals), and Mel Schacher (bass) and has changed throughout their history. Currently, Brewer and Schacher are still members while the group now performs as a five piece. Current vocalist Max Carl has been with them since 2000, as has keyboardist Tim Cashion. Though they have not released an album of original material since 1983 they still tour performing material from their thirteen studio albums. They were recently in New England to perform at Foxwoods. Mike Von Villas was on hand to capture some images from the show. You can see those below.
