LIVE REVIEW: James Arthur in Boston, MA (05.18.24)

James Arthur made his Boston stop on is Bitter Sweet Love World Tour on May 18th. He had released his fifth studio album Bitter Sweet Love on January 26th of 2024. His packed show was not only due to his worldwide popularity, but the quality of his songs and stage presence.

Having never seen him live, but loving his songs since his X factor days, I was interested to see how his live performance was and safe to say I was impressed. He seemed so comfortable on stage and had the audience singing back word for word. The set list was a good mix of new songs from the album as well as fan favorites from the past. He also threw in covers like the iconic ‘Impossible’ by Shontelle and ‘A Thousand Years’ by Christina Perri. The encore of the night was ‘Car’s Outside’ and ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ two of his most popular songs that had the crowd sad, but excited. One thing that I love about him as an artist is that he has the ability to create heartbreaking songs, without being cringe-worthy. I also think when an artist shares stories and talks in between songs, it provides a stronger connection with the audience.

Arthur’s career took off after he won the 2012 season of The X Factor. His debut winning single was ‘Impossible’ by Shontelle and not only reached number 1 on the U.K. Singles Chart but has since sold over 1.4 million copies. He is one of the more low-key artists, where he lets his musical quality do the talking and does not overexpose himself. He deserves all the success that comes his way and I wish him the best on the rest of his tour!
