On Wednesday evening, Grammy-winning bluegrass sensation (and former Berklee student) Molly Tuttle brought her “The Highway Knows” Tour through Boston.

After amicably disbanding her previous band, Golden Highway, earlier this year, Molly Tuttle has put out a new record, called So Long Little Miss Sunshine, and hit the road with talent that shouldn’t be missed. Making up the band is Mary Meyer (mandolin/fiddle), Ellen Angelico (guitar), Vanessa McGowen (bass), and Megan Jane (percussion). For any fan hesitant on change, put those worries away. These musicians have helped put a fun spin on Tuttle’s classics, while helping propel her newer sound forward.

Wednesday night’s set kicked off with “Everything Burns” and “The Highway Knows”, two songs from the new record. Both songs heavily featured Tuttle’s signature bluegrass pickin’ in addition to giving the other musicians time to shine. After this was the first cover of the night, “She’s a Rainbow”, which has become a staple in Tuttle’s live shows.

A bulk of the middle of the set included many Golden Highway staples like “Alice In the Bluegrass” and “Where Did All the Wild Things Go”. At one point, Molly took a request from the crowd for a solo version of “El Dorado”, the lead-off song from her previous album.

The set concluded with a frenzied version of the 2019 staple, “Take the Journey.” After leaving the stage for a quick pause, Molly and the band came back to the crowd’s applause for an encore of “More Like A River” and a very unique and powerful cover of the 2012 pop song “I Love It”.
