Hot Gig Alert (11.04): The Slaps visit Cambridge, MA
The Slaps formed as a college band in 2017 while it’s members – Rand Kelly (guitar), Ramsey Bell (bass), and Josh Resing (drums) – were attending DePaul University in Chicago. A lo-fi, surf rock project they were DIY from the start, recording their first single, “Susan’s Room,” via Garageband. After a slew of EPs and singles, they finally released their debut LP, Tomato Tree, in 2022. To promote the album they became true road warriors playing over seventy shows in a span of three months.
In 2023 they recorded and released a live EP, Pathless (Live at ESS Studios), ESS stands for Experimental Sound Studios a well known independent studio in Chicago. They also put out a seven song EP, This is My First Day at Drawing that same year. Last year, their second studio album, Mudglimmer hit streaming services, and this year, keeping their foot on the gas, they’ve released a four song addendum called Mud Tracks, featuring two unreleased songs, as well as a demo version and a remix of two songs released on Mudglimmer.
Next week, The Slaps will visit New England on their current North American tour supporting Post Animal.
The Slaps play The Sinclair in Cambridge, MA (52 Church St 02138) on November 4th. The show is all ages, and doors open at 7pm with The Slaps performing at 8pm. Tickets are available – HERE.
