Hot Gig Alert (10.24): BumbleBee Radio Celebrates 5th Anniversary with Spooky Somerville Gig

In the spring of 2020, in the midst of the pandemic, WBZ News Radio helicopter reporter Kristen Eck launced BumbleBee Radio, a 24/7 streaming radio station that focused on new indie rock, classic alternative, and a selection of notable sounds from across the Boston music scene.

Five years later, as BumbleBee Radio has grown into a vibrant online community with listeners around the world, highlighted by Eck’s live BumbleBee Brunch show every Friday, the DJ and programmer is still bringing everyone together. And now she’s doing it with a stage as well as a microphone.

On Friday, October 24, Eck hosts the frighteningly fun BumbleBee Radio 5th Anniversary Spooky Season Showcase at Crystal Ballroom in Somerville, a live show and Halloween party sponsored by Connors Farm. Live music will be provided by Los Angeles alt-rock dynamo Beck Black and a trio of Boston bands: The retro power-pop duo The Peppermint Kicks, Smitt E. Smitty & The Fezztones, Jennifer Tefft & The Strange.

“I am beyond excited for this opportunity to celebrate BumbleBee Radio’s anniversary doing what we love, sharing indie music with others,” Eck says. “I’m looking forward to a great night of high-energy music and performance. Everyone in the lineup excels on-stage and that adds to the overall experience.”

Bumblebee Radio Spooky Season Showcase takes place at Crystal Ballroom in Somerville, MA on Friday, October 24th. The show is all ages, and doors open at 7pm with music starting at 8 pm. Advance tickets are $25 and are available – HERE.
