Editor’s note: October in New England is always a great time to be a sports fan, in particular, this past Sunday night we had both a Red Sox playoff game and a huge early season showdown between the Patriots and the previously unbeaten Kansas City Chiefs going down. Meanwhile, U.K. garage rockers The Vaccines came to the area in support of their latest album, Combat Sports. Playing in front of a capacity crowd frantically checking scores on their smartphones The Vaccines managed to do the unthinkable and actually get New Englanders to look away from their sports scores – if only for an hour and a half – to watch their raucous live show. Combat Sports is just the fourth album for The Vaccines who’ve come a long way in a short time, having already been nominated for several BRIT and NME awards since their debut in 2011. They’ve also managed to land gigs opening for Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Stone Roses and a little band called The Rolling Stones in the seven years they’ve been at it. We were in the room on Sunday night to catch the Vaccines along with their sultry opening act, singer Jesse Jo Stark. Check out photos from the night below.
