State Champs weren’t always one of the biggest names in the pop punk game, a title they’ve held for the last several years. When I first started covering music, a van would always pull up with a New York State license plate and out crawled the “local opener” for tours in Worcester and Boston, State Champs. These local opening slots? For local bands from Lions Lions to Vanna to Sparks the Rescue. It showed how much drive this band had. The determination that the band had back in the day makes it that much sweeter to see them about to jump on the “Living Proof” tour that features New England hometown boys in Our Last Night as well as Grayscale and The Dangerous Summer. The tour is stacked and it’s clearly a hit amongst fans as several shows have sold out already, including here in Boston where the band will be playing the biggest venue they’ve ever headlined  here, the House of Blues.

Which is going to feel I’m sure very sweet to a band that’s celebrating ten years as a band. They have seen a natural climb in success and have become one of the buzziest bands on the scene. A band’s band, and one that even the most indie of bookers can’t stop praising. Just a day before the band kicks off their tour, the guys released their video for the newest single, “Criminal”,  serving as the  prequel to the video for “Dead & Gone”, it’s clearly something that could only be created by some imaginative people.

The set is sure to feature some recent favorites off the namesake album of the tour, “Living Proof” as well as many more fan favorites from over the years. The dates of the tour can bound below and tickets for remaining dates can be purchased here
