Hot Gig Alert (8/6): Modest Mouse rolls into town behind first new album in six years
If one had to choose an album title to describe 2020, Modest Mouse’s Good News for People Who Love Bad News would probably find itself among the leading choices. Luckily though 2020 is now in the history books and Modest Mouse can celebrate just plain old good news. Part of that good news came in the form of a brand new album from the Washington State based collective that dropped earlier this year. The Golden Casket, the band’s first new record in six years came out on June 25th via Epic Records.
In addition to the new album, Modest Mouse are among the first bands out of the gate in the post-pandemic touring cycle. The group are coming off a strong performance at Lollapalooza 2021 and on Friday they arrive in Boston, MA for their first of three gigs in the New England area. They’ll follow up Friday’s performance with a show in upstate New York before returning to New England for shows in Vermont and Connecticut.
