Hot Gig Alert (08/25): Alvvays return to Boston for their largest New England headline show to date

Last October Canadian indie pop outfit Alvvays released their third studio album, Blue Rev, to immediate critical acclaim. It marked their second entry into the Billboard 200, while Pitchfork named the album’s third single “Belinda Says” for their No. 1 song of the year. Their last visit to the New England area came in November with shows at Boston’s 3,500 capacity Roadrunner and New Haven’s 2,000 capacity College Street Music Hall. This weekend they’re back in the area, with a major upgrade to the 5,000+ capacity Leader Bank Pavilion.

Completing Blue Rev was a five year long journey for Alvvays that featured tremendous hurdles such as writing through global lockdowns, a basment flood destroying nearly all of their gear, and the theft of an entire recorder full of demos that was swiped from Molly Rankin’s apartment. Despite all of that, they triumphed over adversity to put out one of 2022’s best albums.

Alvvays play Leader Bank Pavilion [290 Northern Ave, Boston, MA 02210] on Friday, August 25th with Alex G and Tanukichan. Tickets for the show are still available and start at $35. Gates open at 6:00pm with music starting at 7:00pm and Alvvays scheduled to take the stage at 9:30pm. To purchase tickets click HERE.
