Singer-songwriter Madds Buckley writes a lot of her music about the video games and anime series that she loves. Her hit single “The Red Means I Love You” was inspired by the manga series My Hero Academia and currently sits at over 81.5 mil global streams. She created her own big break right here in Boston by creating English language anime covers on TikTok while studying at Berklee. In order to celebrate the release of her latest album, My Love Is Sick, Buckley scheduled three album release shows in Chicago, New York, and Boston. After a venue change she ended up at Crystal Ballroom in Somerville, a fitting venue for her as her previous album was coincidentally titled Sunset on Summerville. Okay, the spelling is a little different but we’ll give her credit anyway. Supporting her on this tour is Dev Beck-Levine, Maddy’s guitarist who performs a set of his own material. As well as Boston local Hope DeLuca who’s most recent single “We’ll See” came out on Friday.
