Saya Gray announces debut album SAYA, listen to first single, “Shell (Of A Man)” now
Today, Toronto based songwriter Saya Gray revealed plans for her debut album SAYA, set for release on February 21, 2025 via Dirty Hit. She gives her listeners a preview with the project’s triumphant lead single, “SHELL ( OF A MAN )” out everywhere now.
In a statement about the project she says: “I move fast.Transition quick, hit change My documentations have barely kept up…My mind & body caught up for this album.I had to calm down for this record.I had to document the cleanup.Remnants as I move from places, people & patterns we only have ourselves at the end of it all!”
Gray hails from Toronto, Canada, born to a Japanese mother and Scottish-Canadian father. She first got her start playing in a house band at a Jamaican Pentecostal church; by 16, she was recruited for gigs at open mics, nightclubs and jazz festivals alongside adults. Soon, Gray began entertaining bigger offers to tour internationally as a bass player and musical director for Grammy-winning neo-soul singer Daniel Caesar and alt royalty Willow Smith.
