English singer-songwriter Declan McKenna was back in the area last night on his tour promoting his third studio album, What Happened to the Beach? McKenna last visited while playing at Boston Calling in 2023 where New England Sounds caught up with him for some lovely portraits before his energizing set. This time around, McKenna had the room to himself and ninety minutes worth of material to play from. In additon to cuts from his new record, McKenna played songs off his previous two albums What Do You Think About the Car? (2017) and Zeros (2020), as well as an unreleased track called “That’s Life.” Supporting McKenna on this current run is Romanian born singer Vlad Holiday who is touring in advance of his upcoming debut album, My Favorite Drug, due November 15th. Holiday spent much of his summer as a support act on Cage the Elephant’s amphitheater tour after working with the band’s vocalist Matthew Shultz for a song on My Favorite Drug. You can scan through photos from both artists’ sets last night below.
