The Far Out share new single “Laurel” just in time for summer

Boston-based soul rock outfit The Far Out unveiled their newest single “Laurel” today. Their second release of 2025, “Laurel” follows the track “Funkadelic Gas” the group released in February. The band’s Yacht Rock inspired sound makes the tune a perfect fit for your early summer playlist. “I hope that when people hear it, they dance.” Says lead vocalist Olivia Lowe. “But I hope that when they listen more closely to the lyrics, they understand that it’s okay to get out once something stops being fun or isn’t right for them anymore. I was able to easily write this happy-sounding, confident song because I’m firmly on the other side of the exact situation it describes.”

Last year, The Far Out took home the award for “New Act of the Year” at the New England Music Awards. The six member band often share vocal duties and include big band instruments such as the saxophone and the flute with guitar, bass, drums and keys as well. The Far Out is Ellie Dolan (trumpet/vocals), Ryan Fremont-Smith (bass/vocals/saxophone), Olivia Lowe (guitar/flute/vocals), Drew Phillips (drums), Colin Senechal (saxophone, guitar), Henry Zagarella (keys, vocals).
