On Friday night, alternative indie-pop band, OK Go, brought the energy, dancing and confetti to Boston’s Royale with opening support from L.A. Exes. OK Go is well-known for their creative and quirky music videos for songs like “Here It Goes Again,” “White Knuckles,” and “Upside Down & Inside Out,” featuring elements like furry friends, zero-gravity, and synchronized treadmill choreography. Their performance over the weekend did not fall short of expectations. Not even two songs into the set, lead singer, Damian Kulash, was in the crowd jumping around and singing alongside fans of all ages as confetti filled the air. Throughout the night, the band stopped several times to allow for short Q&As from people in the audience, gave us a handbell ensemble performance for “Shooting the Moon”, and Damian played, yet again, from the middle of the crowd for one of their more emotional songs, “This Is How It Ends”. During the encore, we even got a cover of “There She Goes Again” by The Velvet Underground. By the end of the night, the crowd was ankle deep in a sea of confetti.
