HOT GIG ALERT (09.06 – 07): Seisiún celebrates Irish culture with Dropkick Murphys, The Pogues, and more
If March’s Misneach Festival was a highlight of your concert year like it was for us, you won’t want to miss another chance to celebrate Irish music and culture in Boston. Seisiún (“sesh-oon” and Irish for “session”), a two day festival presented Bowery in collaboration with Joe Killian and Liam Lynch will take over The Stage at Suffolk Downs this coming weekend.
“We’re launching Seisiún at a time when Irish culture is once again witnessing another rich revival and resurgence. There is such an exciting wave of extraordinary cross-category Irish music talent,” explains co-founder of Seisiún Liam Lynch. “Our hope is to reignite some of that same sense of gathering, of revelry and of community, while also tapping into that emergent new interest in the genre. Let the music keep our spirits high.”
The lineup features hometown heroes Dropkick Murphys as headliners on Day One and English Celtic rock band The Pogues closing out Day Two. The undercard features names such as The Hold Steady, Glen Hansard (who also appeared at Misneach with the Swell Season), Stiff Little Fingers and more spread out over the two days.
The Stage at Suffolk Downs is located at 525 William F. McClellan Highway, Boston, MA 02128, on-site parking is available. The venue is also accessible via the MBTA’s Blue Line at the Suffolk Downs stop.
