Editor’s note: Blues rock group Alabama Shakes recently made their New England return, playing in the region for the first time since 2017. From 2012 to 2018 Alabama Shakes had one of the strongest runs of anyone in the music industry, taking home four Grammy awards while being nominated for another five, and releasing two platinum records, one of which went No 1. In 2018 the band decided to go on hiatus as frontwoman Brittany Howard launched a successful solo career. Earlier this year they released their first taste of new music in ten years, a single titled “Another Life,” and announced their first US tour in eight years. Said tour was in Boston in mid September for back-to-back shows at MGM Music Hall, check out photos from night one below, courtesy of Erin Crowley.
