PHOTOS: Newport Folk Festival Day Two – Evan Honer, Yasmin Williams, This Is Lorelei, and more (07.25.26)
Editor’s note: As day two of Newport Folk opened up, Brianna was on hand for one of the day’s earliest sets coming from Evan Honer. Honer, who visited Boston in March, released his latest project, a four-song EP appropriately titled “4 Songs,” ay. He was joined onstage by Medium Build for the live debut of the song “Pull Me Out,” which he and Evan Honer recorded together for the new EP. On the Quad Stage, This Is Lorelei took the opportunity of his set to debut several new songs from his upcoming album, The Singer in My Band, an eleven-song LP due out in September. The vocalist/guitarist is also a member of Brooklyn-based group Water from Your Eyes. One of the weekly hosts of the Daily Show, comedian Jordan Klepper, had an afternoon set on the Foundation Stage, during which he did a short stand-up routine, followed by a q + a session with Nathan Rateliff ahead of his festival closing set on Sunday evening.
Back on the Fort Stage, Lizzy McAlpine played songs from her 2024 album Older, along with some live debuts of material from her upcoming album Angel, due out September 18th.
Critically acclaimed duo Gillian Welch and David Rawlings had a late afternoon set on the Fort Stage. Together, they have collaborated on nine albums, five under Welch’s name, three under Rawlings, and two jointly. They performed songs from throughout their time together.
