Editor’s note: One of the more compelling storylines in indie music the last few years is the meteoric rise of Virginia based lo-fi outfit Car Seat Headrest. Beginning as a solo project in 2010, Vocalist/guitarist/songwriter Will Toledo self-released 12 albums in 5 years via Bandcamp. Toledo’s efforts were enough to get Car Seat Headrest inked to a label deal in 2015. After releasing their label debut LP Teens of Style in 2015, Car Seat Headrest followed up with the monster Teens of Denial which peaked at No. 15 on the US Indie Charts and launched them onto the mainstream indie scene, quickly becoming a favorite of outlets such as Pitchfork. Earlier this year they re-recorded and re-released one of their most popular underground albums Twin Fantasy. Last Thursday, Car Seat Headrest dropped by Royale in Boston, MA for a sold-out show that was all kinds of fun. Zoe Salvucci was in attendance on behalf of New England Sounds, check out visuals from her of Car Seat Headrest and opener Naked Giants.
