Editor’s note: If you weren’t on Tumblr in the early 2010’s it might be tough to understand just how pivotal a role the platform played for The Front Bottoms ascension from underground act to major label signee. It’s comparable to how some bands catch their breaks via TikTok now, but instead of single songs it was live show photos and fan edits that pushed some bands into the spotlight. Their 2013 album Talon of the Hawk was their breakout album, taking them from playing small barrooms to eventually landing a record deal with Fueled By Ramen. To celebrate the album’s anniversary the band have embarked on a headline tour where they perform the record in full each night. The tour stopped in New Haven over the weekend where Kelsey Lockhart was on hand to capture images from their set, as well as support act AJJ who we’ll have more on this week.
