Kim Petras drops new surprise album “Problématique”

In a sea of new music coming out from pop favorites, a legend in the making, Kim Petras, just dropped a surprise album, Problématique. It’s an immediate listen for any true pop lover. Previously partially leaked and then subsequently shelved, it’s been a long time coming for fans of Petras’s European flair when it comes to the music she creates. The album dropping today is perfect timing for some crazy months for Petras. She’s less than a week from heading out on a support tour for her first album, the “Feed The Beast” tour. Which will be kicked off on Sunday when she plays the Life is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas.

It’s been a long time coming for the already much-loved act. Be it Petras’s Grammy-winning collaboration with Sam Smith on “Unholy” to the insane duo of Petras and Nicki Minaj on the awestruck “Alone.” A new Petras album will surely kick off your work week on a great start. Her take on European-influenced pop is taken to another level on this new album and even features a surprise appearance from pop royalty, i.e., Paris Hilton. Don’t even try to say “Stars Are Blind” wasn’t a true bop. With everything from stunning beat drops with a particularly gorgeous one in the collaboration as mentioned above with “All She Wants” with Hilton, the album is a wild ride. The breathy vocals mixed over synthy, dream-like quality beats are sure to come to life in the live setting. Luckily for fans of Petras, she’s about to embark on some serious touring time. After her appearance at Life Is Beautiful this upcoming Sunday, Petras has a hearty amount of shows on her headlining  North American run. This tour brings her to Boston early on October 7th at one of the city’s newest venues, MGM Fenway.  Fresh off of that run, Petras will follow it up by taking her live show on a European/UK run early on in the new year.

The setlist will be challenging now that she has topped onto her well-loved debut record. Here’s a second record to throw it for a loop. And it’s a good problem to have as now, so early on in her career, Petras has already accumulated a slew of exceptionally catchy songs that have quickly won fans over. As mentioned earlier on, and it could be seen at the recent rendition of the VMA’s, where not one nominee for artist of the year was a man, in the words of Beyonce, “Who runs the world? Girls!” With Miley, Selena, and Ariana all releasing new music this year, and now the latest from Olivia Rodrigo and Petras joining in, too, we’re about to see a revolution that’s been a long time-coming.
