Editor’s note: English guitarist Martin Barre spent forty four years as the lead guitarist for the iconic rock band Jethro Tull. Until 2012, Barre and the group’s lead singer Ian Anderson were the two longest serving members of the band. Anderson has continued performing under the Jethro Tull moniker since, while Barre has publicly stated that he considers the current Jethro Tull to be Ian Anderson’s solo group. Performing with his solo group, Barre continues to tour the US playing many of the songs he wrote while a member of Jethro Tull. He has also released six solo albums, with four of those coming after the split with Anderson. Earlier this month, Barre and his band made a stop in Woonsocket, RI where he played two sets that consisted almost entirely of Jethro Tull material, with a couple of his solo tracks included.
