Monday night, Paradise Rock Club welcomed vaporwave veteran George Clanton and his opener, Slater to Boston. Slater kicked off the show, playing to the local crowd as he and his drummer were adorned in Boston sports memorabilia. The crowd was amped to hear the alternative rapper’s old and new music. The venerable rock club’s limits were tested the whole night, as the combination of loud bass and a rabid crowd shook the venue’s floor. When Clanton came on stage, he stalled for time as his computer (which he uses to control the lights) (yes, he does it himself) wasn’t working properly. He gave some remarks about the opener for the first half of the tour, Neggy Gemmy, leaving, while welcoming Slater on his first night of the tour, along with the person who usually sets up his computer. But once he got it going, the night was electric. He was filled with energy, and you could tell he was elated to be there, especially considering this was one of the largest headline shows Clanton has played in Boston to date.
