American singer-songwriter Jessie Murph put on an incredible show at the Leader Bank Pavilion last night, where the screams of her adoring fans could be heard all throughout Seaport. Opener Jorjiana got the energy up with her hot girl rap (think Megan Thee Stallion), revving everyone up with covers of songs like “Party in the USA” and pulling fans on stage to compete in a dance contest. The main act of the night, Jessie, released a new album, Sex Hysteria, in July of this year, which was met not only with critical acclaim but with a resounding success among her fans, new and old. If you haven’t listened to it yet, Murph’s music is a tribute to those who came before her, with her 50s/60s aesthetic, chilling Dolly Parton-like vocals, and beats and synth reminiscent of The Weeknd. Jessie embodies the Priscilla Presley look with all the swagger and glamour of her husband Elvis. The music is sexy, edgy, and badass, but with a hint of southern charm, as was this show. The sea of fans at this show were all genuinely so happy to be there; you could tell some of them had waited a while for this moment. I haven’t seen a production this intense in a while. Between the cheerleading-esque choreography and the spinning platform in the center of the stage, you could never be bored at this show. All eyes were on Jessie, especially since she was the only woman on the stage, she was the center of attention, and a captivating one at that. The whole show was an extension of the art that is the album Sex Hysteria.
