LIVE REVIEW + PHOTOS: Oh Wonder in Boston, MA (04.15.26)
Sometimes some of the best things in music are accidental, and the musical duo Oh Wonder, happens to be one of them. Josephine was classically trained in piano and violin, and was studying law when she met Anthony, who was a producer and formerly in a rock band. In a South London studio, they started working together, and something clicked. Since then, they have released numerous albums, have been able to tour the world and have gotten married and have a child. Now ten years after their debut album, they are doing select acoustic shows across the United States.
The show on April 15th at the Boch Center, started out with just a single spotlight and Josephine and Anthony on the piano with “Body Gold” and “Dazzle” both songs that were early hits of theirs. As they continued through the setlist, there was a song where Josephine went back to get her violin for the next few songs. It was then she gave up on the idea, and someone from the audience stood up and explained that they played violin professionally. The audience member then proceeded to play with the duo for the next two songs before exiting. Whether it was staged or not, very fun experience as an audience member to watch.
The rest of the setlist was a mix of hits from their 2016 self-titled album “Oh Wonder” and “Ultra life”. This tour was a clear example of how timeless these songs are and how even 10 years later fans still flock to the theaters for an intimate experience like that night. I am excited to see what this duo creates in the future and looking forward to their return to Boston.
