Hot Gig Alert (5.23 – 5.25): Boston Calling Week is Upon Us

The time is almost here, this coming weekend, Boston Calling Music Festival will be taking place at the Harvard Athletic Complex, Friday May 23rd, through Sunday May 25th. This year is the twelfth year of Boston Calling, and fourteenth overall  established in 2013 and was originally held at City Hall Plaza, now brings more artists, food and beverage options, stages, activities, and over twice the number of attendees!

WHAT’S IN THE MIX?

Friday kicks things off with a mix of country, hip-hop, and throwbacks performances by Megan Moroney, Luke Combs, and T-Pain will be sure to have the crowd on their feet. Saturday will be one for the Warped Tour crew as artists including Fall Out Boy, Avril Lavigne, The Maine and All Time Low will all take the stage. While Sunday will bring the 90’s hits from the likes of Dave Matthews Band, Sublime, and Public Enemy.

LOCAL TALENT:

Boston Calling’s local stage – known as the Orange Stage – is as good as ever this year with Boston Music Awards Album of the Year winner Latrell James joining Future Teens, Battlemode, and Megan from Work on Friday. Boston native Bebe Stockwell is also performing on Friday, but will open the Green Stage with the weekend’s first set. Saturday’s Orange Stage performances come from punk rockers Rebuilder, alongside Pinklids, Sidebody, and Simon Robert French. Sunday will conclude the weekend with performances from shoegaze group Vivid Bloom, plus Nate Perry & Ragged Company, Copilot and Layzi. FUEL UP!

Grab a bite at one of the many food options including Dumpling Daughter, Sally’s Pizza, Roxy’s Grilled Cheese and more! Looking for something sweet? Stop by Blackbird Doughnuts, Flour Bakery + Cafe, or Amelia’s Acai. For a little more about the food lineup, revisit our article on the announcement from last month – HERE.

NEED A BREAK FROM THE SUN?

Step inside the arena for a bit to see local Berklee students showcase their musical talent. Catch performances by Su Yavuz, Srisley, Tiril Jackson, Solaya + The Effect, Manuela Sánchez Goubert, Aniyé and Devon Gates & Friends.

HOW TO GET AROUND:

This year, the festival has reconfigured the grounds, consolidating the Red Stage and Green Stage into one stage. The Blue Stage will remain in the same place as previous years but the consolidation of the two stages has also shifted some of the other portions of the map.
