Periphery brought the A Pale White Dot Tour to the Worcester Palladium on October 23rd, with support from Ne Obliviscaris, Greyhaven, and Ando San. The band is touring behind their latest album of the same name, released in May on their own label, 3DOT Recordings.

Heavy, tight, and enormous, Periphery’s sound hit the Worcester crowd like a wall. Guitarists Misha Mansoor, Jake Bowen, and Mark Holcomb traded riffs and leads while staying perfectly in sync, three guitars working together as one. Spencer Sotelo’s vocals covered serious ground, ranging from melodic cleans to guttural screams with ease. Behind him, drummer Matt Halpern was equally impressive, driving the set with a speed and precision that never let up. The night was a showcase of everything that makes Periphery a standout in the progressive metal scene: technical mastery, heavy-hitting riffs, and melodies that keep the whole room singing along.

Loneliness is the thread running through A Pale White Dot, an album about the weight of isolation in a crowded world. Inside the Palladium on Friday night, that weight was lifted. The crowd packed in shoulder to shoulder and rose as one beneath the music, a room full of people who, for one night, were anything but alone.
